To whom it may concern;
I am writing
this letter regarding Deni Burhasan application is sending your institutions. Absolutely,
I understand your strange feeling on the first time you hear his name, but you
will be more surprised after you start a conversation with him and discuss
something. When this world is full of
narrow minded people who live in their own perspective and point of view or
even love to put their self in their own box, Deni tries to hear other people
arguments, thoughts, and jokes. That is showing clearly in my memories theater
a moment at a night before Parlemen Muda Roadshow in Lampung. I laid down in Hetty’s room to kill my fatigue
after had three hours journey from my campus internship when suddenly Aris is
calling me to join in a great discussion about democracy, government,
prosperity, and youth movement. That was the first time i share idea with Deni
and finally we entered in a long analytical discussion which successfully made
us sleep at 3 am with a bunch of inspiration from each of us, I mean Deni,
other friends, and me.
Entering a
global community is a big problem for Indonesian youth, at least because of three
reasons; (1) They cannot speak English which caused a big burden for them to
communicate with foreigner, (2) They do not have enough background knowledge to
talk about; it makes most of them insecure to have international friendship,
and (3) They do not know any platform to go. Deni broke the limit by registered
himself as a part of AIESEC although he knew clearly that he cannot speak English.
Facilitate by google translate and supported by a strong eagerness, he started
to speak and… voila ! nowadays, he is successfully become AIESEC ambassador and
flight all over Indonesia to promote this exchange platform. Wait, do not stop
here, he has a bunch of international friends in all over the world. It proven when
he joined world international model united nations in Belgium and visited
several countries in Europe, he successfully fight for ‘zero euro’ life because
of friendship values (I am sorry to mention it). At least from this case you
may see that Deni has a strong believe on what he dream about and persistent on
the way how he fights to grab it.
Let me tell you
the next chapter sir or madam… GoGoCampus is our dream for start up. This
social enterprise aims to increase better access and better quality for higher
education in Indonesia. A long day before, it’s name is Bedah Kampus, we changed
the name for better branding because we wanted to propose $25K to the US
embassy and successfully rejected in final assessment. Keep up your mind, this
is not about how big GoGoCampus is, but a group of youth who want to turn on “hope
button” in privilege societies. Deni, a group of friends and I conducted a
school roadshow in East Lampung and Tanggamus, this is a long distance to go
for promoting higher education access for senior High school students. Ones, we
went by bus and the rest we went by motor cycle, we stayed for a night in a
village, and arranged our tight schedule. Everything we did unpaid, even he
should pay bus fee and others need by himself, Isn’t those voluntary activity
look easy ? Yes ! if in your perspective; Deni comes from a rich family or at
least middle income. But the fact is totally different (you may ask to him by
yourself, because it is totally his right to tell about). The strong point that
you should understand; he is the right candidate for the future leader. It is not
because he is a part of Indonesian Future Leaders youth-led NGO, but in the perspective
of helping other and creates an impact. We may find a big number of people who
difficult to share something even they are available, but Deni break the limit
and spare their time, energy, and money to help others. Can you imagine the
condition when he has a better resource than ? I can guarantee that he gives
bigger impact !
Warm regards
Candra
[ Have a good preparation for your 22nd
year Deni, may Allah gives your age full of barakah, because give a surprise on
the day or late after is too mainstream J so, keep humble, grow faster and be a better
person more than on what I write in this letter…. And as usual, sorry for a
messy grammar :P ]
